Schlitterbahn - KC

We got a really good deal on some tickets to Schlitterbahn in Kansas City, so we headed there for a day trip. Although it's not complete yet, it's was good enough for Ella and Charles and I had a good time too!

After the waterpark, we had a really great dinner at Ted's Montana Grill. Charles and I both had Bison burgers for the first time - wow, were they ever good! We highly recommend them!

State Fair - 2009

Ella had a great time at the Iowa State Fair this year. My aunt Renae was in town to work at a booth at the State Fair, so we roamed around in the morning by ourselves and by the afternoon, Renae was ready to visit the fair with us. We had a very good time.

We visiting Little Hands on the Farm (which we highly recommend), the Varied Industries building, all of the animal barns, all of the big animals, shopping marts, hall of law, skyglider, etc.

Ella also enjoyed her very first ice cream cone - not ice cream, but her very own cone. In the one picture, she's petting a ferret that my aunt Renae was holding for the geese guy. This guy walks aroung with like 10-12 geese that obey him like dogs.

Tumbling

This summer, we enrolled Ella in a tumbling class for 5 weeks through the Community Education program. Needless to say, she was a little hesitant at first, but it soon become her highlight of the week.

When the Des Moines Register reporter, she was a little show-off (surprise, surprise - I know). So she made the local edition - Urbandale Register and I was quoted. Good times!

She learned how to do frog hops, bunny hops, somersalts, split leg somersaults and cartwheels. Surprisingly enough, she actually did very well at all of them - including cartwheels. So now, we're just doing remedial tumbling at home. I don't think her long term profession is in dance - so the only other option would be gymnastics and it seems like with the success of Shawn Johnson that it's pretty expensive - so for now, we'll pass.
