May

I'm sorry - this whole post is so screwed up and I just don't have the energy to get it all figured out. So sorry!

May was a very busy month for us! As you know, Duste passed away in April. Ella is still coping with the loss. Our conversation one day:

Me: You know who really misses Duste?

Ella: Penny. Well we could buy another dog?

Me: We're not going to buy another dog.

Ella: Well, we could go to the shelter and adopt another dog.

Such a smart girl!! But the answer is still 'no'.

To celebrate Mother's Day, we went to church and then got chicken and some side dishes from Hy-Vee and went to the park, had a picnic, took a walk and played on the equipment. What a great day to celebrate, even though Ella got her knees stuck (easily undone).

Lexi is getting so much bigger - holding her own bottle. Although I think she's going through a growth spurt as she's eating quite a bit lately - nursing in the AM, 3 bottles at daycare (6 oz, 3 hrs apart), and then nursinge 1-2 time in the evening. The good news is that she's in bed by 8:30. She's really starting to roll over - all the time and is finding her voice while gurgling.

The next big event was Charles' 30th Birthday party. Ella & I surprised him at work on Friday - I mean REALLY surprised him. He was shocked! On Saturday, he went golfing with my Dad and brother, Josh. Then we had a surprise party for him at our house. All of his brothers & sisters were there (minus 1), my brothers, both of our parents, neighbors and friends. We had a wonderful evening! Notice I said evening, because Ella woke up in the middle of the night sick - puking Oreos. Apparently she had a few too many!

About this same time, Lexi learned to sit up well - she's really happy being able to play on her own without someone needing to hold her up.

Miss Ella started her first journey as a t-ball player - playing on the Grasshoppers team (lime green shirts) with 6 other little girls. Her coach, who is the Superintendent of DSM Christian Schools and his daughter coached the girls to a successful tie season which will end in June.

We spent our first weekend at the lake, where Lexi got her first boat ride and fell asleep - just like Ella. We also spent time celebrating Colten's birthday in Emmetsburg.

We supported Clark's wife, Cindy, in her Arthritis Walk. Cindy is Lexi's Godmother and we love her dearly. Just wish she didn't have to fight this terrible illness. The event was at the Blank Park Zoo and was a lot of fun! The girls took relatively good pictures. I was even able to get a picture of Charles & his friend, Corinne from work with their babies. Charlie & Lexi are only 4 months apart.

Ella & Lexi - this one is just too cute with them both smiling!

Ella & Kyla - apparently Kyla was a little bit tired.

Our rose bush from Colorado had a few beauiful blooms on it.

Lexi is OUT in her crib.
